1. Welcome to Your New Mobile Hub

Welcome to the new OTM/GTM Mobile App, your central hub for managing logistics and transportation tasks from anywhere. This modern, browser-based Progressive Web Application (PWA) is designed for drivers, service providers, and administrators to perform critical functions on any device with a modern web browser—from phones and tablets in the field to desktops in the office.

This new application officially replaces the legacy native iOS and Android apps, which were built on the Oracle Mobile Application Framework (MAF). As of June 30, 2023, the legacy MAF-based apps are no longer supported. All users should migrate to this new, enhanced PWA to take advantage of its superior performance, usability, and configurability.

2. Key Benefits: Why You'll Love the New App

The new Mobile App is built from the ground up to provide a more efficient and flexible user experience. Here are some of the core advantages:

Access Anywhere, On Any Device

Because the app is a PWA, it runs in any modern web browser on any device. There is no need to download or install anything from an app store, ensuring you always have access to the latest version.

Improved Performance and Usability

The application is faster, more reliable, and features a clean, intuitive interface. The modern design helps users complete tasks quickly with fewer steps and a more logical workflow.

Highly Configurable

Administrators have powerful tools to tailor the app's appearance and functionality. You can brand the app, limit access to specific data, and enable or disable features to perfectly match your unique business processes.

This combination of accessibility and customizability makes the app a powerful tool, particularly for drivers executing shipments in the field.

3. A Day in the Life: The Driver's Workflow

This section provides a step-by-step walkthrough of how a driver uses the Mobile App to manage their daily work, from reviewing assignments to completing deliveries.

3.1. Your Dashboard: Assigned, Confirmed, and Active Shipments

The driver's dashboard provides an at-a-glance overview of all work, organized into three clear statuses. A shipment progresses logically from one status to the next as the driver executes their tasks.

Status Description
Assigned A list of all shipments that have been assigned to you. Review these to plan your work.
Confirmed Shipments from the 'Assigned' list that you have reviewed and confirmed you will execute.
Active The single shipment you have started and are currently executing.

3.2. Executing a Shipment: Step-by-Step

Once a driver is ready to begin, the app guides them through each stage of the shipment lifecycle.

Start a Shipment

The driver selects a shipment from their 'Confirmed' list to make it the single 'Active' shipment. While the app previously required starting the shipment with the earliest start time, drivers can now start other confirmed shipments as well, providing greater flexibility to manage their work.

Navigate to Stops

For each stop on the active shipment, the app provides a series of large, clear buttons that guide you through each required action, such as tapping Arrived when you reach a stop or Departed when you leave. Drivers can use the plot icon next to a stop to visualize its location on a map.

Record Arrival and Departure

Upon arriving at a location, the driver is prompted to submit an Arrived tracking event. After completing their work and leaving the stop, they are prompted to submit a Departed event. When you tap the Arrived or Departed button, the app pre-populates a tracking event with the correct event code and the current date and time, minimizing manual entry and ensuring accuracy.

Capture Proof of Delivery

Within a tracking event, drivers can upload photos (e.g., of delivered goods) and capture a digital signature directly on the device's screen ("sign on glass"). This information is automatically saved and attached to the shipment record as documents for easy reference.

Schedule Dock Appointments

Drivers now have the ability to view, add, modify, and delete dock appointments directly from the mobile app, streamlining the process of coordinating arrivals at facilities.

While this covers the core driver workflow, the app also provides a specialized set of tools for external service providers.

4. A Guide for Service Providers

The Mobile App offers a similar shipment execution workflow for service providers, but with additional features designed for managing tenders, bids, and invoices directly from a mobile device.

4.1. Key Features for Service Providers

Tender Management

Service providers can review shipments in the 'Tendered Shipments' box and choose to Accept or Decline them directly in the app. Accepted shipments then move to their 'Accepted Shipments' list for execution.

Spot Bid Tenders

The app provides a dedicated 'Open Spot Bids' section where providers can review available spot bid tenders, add remarks, and submit their bids for consideration.

Invoice Management

Service providers can manage auto-generated invoices on the go. This includes the ability to add or edit invoice line items, upload supporting documents, and submit the final invoice for approval and payment.

These user-facing features are all controlled by a powerful administrative back-end that allows for deep customization.

5. For the Administrator: Customizing the App Experience

One of the most powerful features of the new Mobile App is its configurability, a stark contrast to the rigid legacy apps. Administrators use Mobile Layouts—customizable templates—to define the entire look, feel, and functionality of the app for different user groups, ensuring the tool precisely fits the task.

5.1. What You Can Configure

A Mobile Layout gives you granular control over the user experience. You can tailor nearly every aspect of the app to align with your operational needs.

Configuration Area Primary Benefit & Purpose
Dashboard Layout Customize the homepage by changing the number, color, labels, and font of the information boxes to prioritize what's most important for your users.
Data Display Control which specific data fields are visible in shipment lists and detail views, ensuring users see relevant information and are not cluttered by unnecessary data.
Feature Enablement Turn key features on or off, such as the ability to capture received quantities (count, weight, volume), upload photos, or enter remarks.
Workflow Control Tailor workflows by configuring custom quick codes, setting idle timeouts, making certain fields mandatory, and defining which boxes refresh automatically.

With the app configured, the final step is to grant your users access.

6. Getting Users Started: Setup and Access

For a user such as a driver or service provider to access the Mobile App, an administrator must first configure their user account with the correct access rights in the system.

6.1. Required User Access

These settings, known as Access Control Lists (ACLs), function like permissions that determine what a user can see and do within the app. The following ACL items must be added to a user's profile to enable mobile access:

  • Mobile Web Application REST - View: This is the minimum requirement for all mobile app users. It grants read-only access to view shipment information.
  • Mobile Web Application REST - Create/Update: Grant this right in addition to the 'View' right if the user needs to perform actions such as entering tracking events, confirming shipments, or submitting bids.

7. Summary

The OTM/GTM Mobile App is a powerful, flexible, and modern tool for managing logistics on the go. As a Progressive Web App, it breaks free from the limitations of traditional app stores, allowing for continuous updates and rapid delivery of new features directly to your browser. As the single, supported platform for all mobile interactions, it replaces outdated technology with a configurable, browser-based solution that works on any device. By providing tailored workflows and robust administrative controls, the app is designed to improve efficiency and visibility for drivers, service providers, and administrators alike.
